Who hoo!!!

I've got be quick because I'm working, but so excited that I really want to post. I was talking with a guy I work with who's wife is expecting in late Sept. He was telling me how exciting it was for him to hear the heartbeat, so it made me more bummed that Aaron had to miss out. I decided to look into renting a Doppler machine so we could listen at home. The FDA requires a doctor's approval/prescription, so I called and talked to his nurse and explained the situation and to make sure I'd get approval. She said, well, it would probably be easier if you just came back in to the office and we took another listen! They have times every day that nurses are available and they do it free of charge! So, we're going in tomorrow to listen again! I'm so excited and so happy that Aaron will get to hear it! Who hoo!!!

2nd Appointment (11 Weeks and 4 Days)

Today was our 2nd appointment. As my previous post mentioned, my doctor had to once again cancel at the last minute (since he is delivering other people's babies I'll give him a break). I called first thing this morning to reschedule and told them that I'd like to get in today if I can, even if I see someone else. So they booked me for 11 am with a Nurse Practitioner.

Aaron and I were planning to meet at the office around 11, but he called me around 10:50 and had just gotten off a conference call at home. He wasn't very happy because he kept telling the people on the call he had to leave and they kept asking him questions. No biggie though, we decided that it wasn't a big deal that he couldn't make it this time.

So at the appointment we did the usual (pee, weigh, blood pressure). And then the exciting part -- they used a Doppler to hear the heartbeat. The nurse had to look around for the baby for a couple minutes. She said sometimes they like to hide, so I told the baby, "come on, little one, swim to the top" and it listened (hopefully this is an early sign we're having an obedient child -- I won't hold my breath though!). The heartrate was in the 160s and every once in a while we would hear it kick through the Doppler! It was quite funny to hear and it was kicking every 5 seconds or so for probably 30 seconds! The nurse said that it sounded great!
