Weird Dog

Last night between about 4:30 and 6:00 AM we had a big storm go through. Nothing severe, but lots of thunder and lightning. Normally if it is storming you can bet that Portia will be hiding under the bed (even though it is a tight squeeze for her and she has to lay completely flat, with her legs sprawled out on each side). We often will try to coax her out and there is nothing that can get her out if she hears thunder.

I woke up around 5:30 and it was raining really hard, so I decided to check if I could see water standing in our backyard. Our neighbors put up a fence and early this spring we noticed after a hard rain that there was a water line streteching very far across their fence and it has me worried that the fence is acting as a dam and that we're going to get flooded. It was lightning enough that I could see the the backyard pretty well and there was no water standing. I turned around to head back to bed and there comes Portia running at me at full speed! She ran up to me and started doing her super-excited wiggle-butt dance. Most of you probably haven't actually seen it because she tries to jump on you, but let me tell you it is a sight to be seen. Usually with Aaron and I she doesn't do it too long and really doesn't get that wiggly, but this morning she was going crazy. She probably did it for 5 minutes straight -- all the while there were huge claps of thunder. I could not believe she wasn't hiding and was so seemingly happy. I was laughing so hard, and as most of you know it is very difficult to get me to smile, let alone laugh early in the morning. I crawled back into bed for another hour of rest and she jumped in with me and snuggled up, even with the thunder.

I went for a...

RUN! This is the first time I've been running since I found out I was pregnant. Even though the doctor said that it was just fine to do, I just haven't had the energy. Portia and I were just going to go for a walk, but it was so nice out and she seemed full of energy (me, too!) so we decided to run. Of course after almost 3 months of no running (for me, probably more like 2 years for her...well at least distance, she does get in her fair share of sprints), we didn't make it very far. It was still fun and felt sooo good! Yippeee!

Blog Update -- FYI

I just changed the settings so that anyone can comment -- you don't have to have a Gmail or Yahoo email account. So those of you who have mentioned that you haven't made comments because you don't have an account, no longer have an excuse. :)

On an aside, be thinking of my husband tonight. He's stuck in Dallas waiting for his plane to take off (more than 2 hours late) and while waiting he was in line for ice cream and the girl working told him they were closed after the guy in front of him got his ice cream. So he went to McDonalds to get a shake and they didn't have any left. Those of you aware of how much he loves ice cream can only imagine how happy he is right now!

Second Trimester!!!

I am officially in the 2nd trimester! Who hoo! Today I am 13 weeks and 1 day. Over the last week or two I have really started feeling better. Gone is the constant nausea and extreme exhaustion. Now I am just HUNGRY! I'm really looking forward to the next couple months, especially starting to grow and feeling the baby move. Hopefully we will also be finding out the gender of the baby by the 4th of July. It still seems like it is a long time away, but really it is less than 7 weeks and technically we could find out even sooner than that if they let us schedule the ultrasound earlier.

It Zwibble

Ok, so most, if not all of you, are probably wondering what in the world the title of this post means. Well, let me tell you. It was my favorite book when I was 5 or 6. When I say favorite, I mean that I was completely obsessed with it! There was a long period of time that I picked this book as one of my nighttime stories -- every single night. My poor mom! Needless to say, she did not forget and somehow managed to find a copy on Amazon.com. Last night I had a surprise package on the front porch and lo-and-behold, it was It Zwibble! So now I can read it to my little ones as they grow up! Thanks Mom!

Princess Portia and Her Crystal Ball

Well, I have to admit that we haven't been quite as good about asking Portia for her prediction for the last few weeks, but when we did she said GIRL. Jason and Kim came by last week and Jason decided to ask her and she told him girl, too. He has thought it was a boy since the beginning, so I think he wanted to see if we were making it up that she is (almost) always saying girl.

Heartbeat Update

So sorry for taking so long to update about this! I feel like I left everyone hanging.

Aaron and I did get to go on last Friday to hear the baby's heartbeat again. It was just as amazing to me the 2nd time and I know that it was really awesome for Aaron to get to hear it. This time there was no kicking, but the baby did keep moving around. The nurse said that was a really good sign. I'm so excited to feel it move!
