It is Hot Out!

This weekend was a really nice one, albeit REALLY HOT. We went to visit Mammaw (my great grandma) in Crane, MO, which is not far from Branson. We hadn't seen her for a while, so it was nice to chat. We also went to the Black family reunion (my mom's side) in a town about 30 minutes from Crane. We don't get together very often and I hadn't seen a lot of people who were there for at least 10 years, most of them it had been 19 years! We managed to do both things on Saturday, including the drive there and back! It made for a really long day, but it was worth it and we couldn't make it any other way.

On Friday, Aaron and I had a chiropractor appointment and his office is on the other side of town, so we took the opportunity to stop by Babies 'R Us, which is a bit out of our way otherwise. And we got registered! We're still finetuning the regsitry, so some things may be coming and going over the next few weeks. It was a lot fun to do together and pretty much we agreed on everything we picked out. They have a very well organized registry, so when we left we got a printout of all of the things they thought we overlooked. We're going to try to go over it this week and get everything updated. We can do everything online, so it is very convenient.

On Sunday Kim and I went to our friend Lindsay's bridal shower. She's marrying a guy I went to high school with and I know a lot of his family. I hadn't seen most of them since I graduated high school. After the shower Kim let me go through all of the clothes that Jocelyn has outgrown (she just turned 4 months, so it was newborn, and 0-3 month sizes). We got so much great stuff! There was plenty of, well, I'm not sure how to say this politely, so I'll just say it -- ugly stuff in there! They were hand-me-downs that Kim got and she was in agreement with me. So we made an ugly pile and it is going to Goodwill. I did keep a lot of things I thought were ugly, too, but they seemed practical (sleepers, etc). Don't worry though, for every ugly outfit there were at least 5 super cute ones! I ended up with 2 medium sized boxes and one huge ziplock bag full of clothes! She also is letting me borrow a glider, a high chair and a boppy. She also had 1.5 packages of diapers that were too small and three 2 oz bottles of formula that they got at the hospital. So, I made out really well! It is so nice of her and Jason to let us use so much of their stuff.

Hiccups!

Little Miss Cain has had the hiccups all morning! I'm sure it is probably a bit more annoying when the baby is bigger, but right now it is really neat to feel.

Side note - It looks like blogger.com has fixed their issue that prevented me from posting pictures, so hopefully when we get our camera next week I will be able to post some updated pics.

Weekend Update

Aaron was out of town all last week and got home Friday night. As soon as he got home and was talking to me, the baby started kicking a lot and really hard. I told him I think she was excited for him to be home. :) He put his hand on my belly and she kicked the hardest that she had ever kicked -- it was really neat.

The rest of our furniture is being delivered tomorrow, so we decided to clear out the guest room and to put the crib together. We didn't start on it until about 8 last night and it looked pretty simple, but one of the holes wasn't quite drilled right. Both of being oldest children (aka "in charge") we decided pretty quickly that it would work better if I left him to put it together himself. So, I went to bed and when I got up this morning it was put together. It is really exciting to start getting the nursery situated! I can't remember if I've said or not, but I think we're going to decorate in black and white with light pink accents. Our walls are an off-white porcelain color right now, which I think isn't going to look very good with white, so we might paint the room a very light pink. I'm not sure if Aaron will go with that or not, but I'm thinking he will.

Also this weekend Aaron's stepmom, Sheramie took me shopping. We had a lot of fun and found some great deals and very cute stuff! It was really nice to spend the time together and to spoil the little one. :)

Oh and you'll all be happy to know that we bought a new camera this weekend! I had to order it online through Walmart, so we won't get it for another week or so, but then I can start posting pictures again. Well, if I can figure out how to do it. This website used to have an option for posting pictures, but now it doesn't -- or else I've managed to change a setting that isn't letting me post. I'll get it figured out by the time we have the new camera.

Aaron is Going to KILL Me!!!

I bought 6 pairs of shoes today for the baby!!! Target had thier baby shoes on clearance and most of them were 75% off, so I bought 2 sizes of each. Of course the guidance now-a-days is to not put shoes on your baby, but I think it will be fine her to wear them sometimes. How well they stay on, now that will be another story...

Even though Aaron is going to kill me, the Grandpas are going to be happy because I found the cutest onesie today that is purple with a pink castle on it and it says Grandpa's Little Princess. :) Isn't that cute?

Books!

Today a girl I work with brought in a bunch of her kids' old books. There were all kinds of really good ones and the majority are for babies and toddlers. There were probably 15 books and I bought them all for $3.

Update

Well, sorry for so long between posts. Work has been really busy, so I haven't had time to post during the day and our internet has been out at home. We finally got the internet fixed on Friday, but we went to the lake with some friends for the weekend. We had a really nice time, even though the weather didn't cooperate much.

Everything has been going really well with my pregnancy. I have still been having some heartburn, but it isn't usually too bad. My belly seems to be growing really quickly. I just started showing a couple weeks ago and now I feel huge! I still haven't had someone ask me about it without knowing, so I must not be too big, but I feel like it!

Our First Big Purchase

We bought a crib and dresser/hutch today. It is the same crib that I posted earlier and the matching dresser. We also bought a new reclining loveseat for our TV room. It is so nice to have! I've been so uncomfortable for a long time on our couch and really enjoyed a nice recline to watch TV tonight. We bought a recliner also that matches the loveseat, but we plan to put it in the baby's room for now.
