8 Weeks Already

My little girl is growing so fast! We were at Wal-mart earlier this week and one of the cashiers was commenting about how tiny she is and I had just been thinking about how big she is getting! We packed away most of the Newborn sized clothes this week. Oh and for those of you wondering, yes her dresser is still organized. I really like it like this, but I don't think we'll be able to do it once she's in 3-6 month clothes because my bins are too small. Bummer!

Here's her 8 week picture. She was busy talking when I was trying to take picture, lol. She takes after Daddy in that area!

She's been sleeping even better than she had been. She has been sleeping 11-12 hours straight. I'm not kidding. She does stlll fight going to sleep, but we've been trying to put her down around 8, so she's asleep by the time we are getting into bed. Sometimes she's already almost asleep and it is easy to get her into a deep sleep, but other times she is just barely asleep and will wake up every 20 minutes fussing. Nothing too bad for an 8 week old baby.

We have our house on the market for those of you that don't know. We found a house in Spring Hill that we really like, but it got a contract on it the day we went to market. Go figure! We're going to check out a few other houses and see how things go with our house selling. If we don't have luck, we still like where we are, we'd just like a 3rd garage (for the boat) and another bedroom so we can have an office and a guest room. The market is great for a buying right now, just not so great for selling!

Fifth "Jenna"ration

On Thursday, me, my mom, Grammie, Jenna, and Brad went to Crane, MO to visit my great-grandma Mamaw. Mamaw is going to be 90 years old in March, but is still quite spunky. She lives on her own in a small apartment in Crane. We got there a little after lunch and surprised her. Brad went in first and told her that he was visiting now since he's leaving for South Korea for a year in February. Then he told her he forgot something in the car and brought Jenna in. Boy was she surprised! Then my mom and Grammie came in and she was even more surprised! We took a bunch of pictures of the 5 generations of women, but they were on Mom's camera, so I don't have them yet. I did snap a picture of Jenna with Mamaw though.

Six and Seven Week Pictures

Here is Jenna's 6 week picture. Aaron calls the face she is making her "smirker" face.

And here is her 7 week picture. She was teasing me and kept smiling right after I would take the picture -- ornery girl! We were in the mood for spring this day, hence the spring-like outfit.

Weight Check

Yesterday we went to the doctor to reweigh Jenna. She gained 11 oz and now weighs 9 lbs 1 oz! I was so excited to hear that news. He said that he was hoping she'd gain 10 oz. Everything else went great at the appointment, but after we left she's been making this little cough sound and sounds congested, so I think she might be coming down with her first cold. :(

On a completely un-baby related note. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday! I had a great day. Aaron bought me a beautiful blue topaz (Jenna's birthstone) necklace. I love it! Then he asked my parents to watch her while he took me to dinner. We went to a Japanese steakhouse, which is one of my favorite places to eat and somewhere we wouldn't be able to bring Jenna, so it was a perfect choice.

Welcome to Motherhood...

Last night Jenna had a feeding around 4 am. I was soothing her back to sleep and was holding her in my arms, facing out. As I was getting ready to place her in her crib, she spit up all over the crib! We don't have the basinette set up anymore, so I had to put her in the bouncer (now wide awake) and change the sheet. Those of you short mommas out there (and maybe tall ones, too) know that changing a crib sheet can be a bit of a challenge! I got it done and put her back down. I went back to bed and heard a funny sound on the monitor. I was worried that the sheet wasn't on good enough and came off one corner, so I rushed back into the nursery. As soon as I got in there, she spit up again! This time since she was on her back, it got all over her clothes and settled under her head, thus soaking her hair and back. So, I stripped her down and got a washcloth and cleaned her off. Little miss hates being naked and even more so hates being wet, so she got upset. I got her changed and she settled quickly. By that point, I was worried she was sick, so I got out the thermometer. I don't have one designated for rectal use yet, so we did an ear test which told me her temp was 92F. Hm, I don't think that's right. I did the kiss her head test and it felt the same temp as my lips, so I decided she wasn't sick. I think that she probably didn't get all her burps out. Her spitup was only on one half of the bed, so I put her down on the other half and we both went back to sleep. Good news is that she is still going to bed really well for us!

Update

Just thought I'd update everyone and let you know how Jenna's first night in her crib went - she went to sleep at 9 PM and we put her in the crib at 11 PM when we went to bed. She slept until 9:30 AM (with a couple feedings during the night). I'm still in disbelief!

One Month

Well, in the past "few" days that I haven't posted, Jenna turned one month old. Here's her "birthday" picture.
She turned 5 weeks a couple days later; here's her 5 week picture

We've had a bit of a rough week. :( She's never been happy about going to bed, but this week she decided to kick it up a notch and stay up even later. Twice we were up until 3 am and the other nights we didn't get to sleep until at least 1. She gets upset, but can be consoled. We'll get her to sleep and put her down, but within 10 minutes she'll start fussing again. Tonight we're moving her from the basinette in our bedroom to her crib in the nursery. So far it has actually gone amazingly well, but it is only 11, so I'm not going to count my chickens yet. The other rough thing this week was her one month appointment, which was on Tuesday. She has only gained 3 oz (so she's 8 lbs 6 oz), which puts her at the 29th percentile for weight. Our next appointment should be in another month, but since she's gained so little we have to go back to get her weighed next Friday. We've decreased time between feedings, so hopefully that will do the trick. It has already helped with some daytime fussiness. I feel so bad that some of those fusses were from hunger and I held off feeding her! I guess that all new parents probably have to learn a thing or two along the way, but I still feel bad! On a better note, she has grown 1.25 inches and her head is 38.5 cm, both of which are in the upper 80s percentile. Another great note is that she has started cooing a lot and giving us lots of great smiles! She was in her swing the other day when I was doing some work around the house. I walked into the room and she was looking up at the mobile and cooing at it. It was so cute!

We also had a fantasticly warm day today, so we went for a walk while Dad worked this afternoon. It was great for me and I think Jenna liked it, too. She fell asleep before we even left the driveway. Hopefully we get a few more warm days here and there in the next couple months, so we can go for more walks and maybe even a jog once she has a bit better neck control.
