One Month

Well, in the past "few" days that I haven't posted, Jenna turned one month old. Here's her "birthday" picture.
She turned 5 weeks a couple days later; here's her 5 week picture

We've had a bit of a rough week. :( She's never been happy about going to bed, but this week she decided to kick it up a notch and stay up even later. Twice we were up until 3 am and the other nights we didn't get to sleep until at least 1. She gets upset, but can be consoled. We'll get her to sleep and put her down, but within 10 minutes she'll start fussing again. Tonight we're moving her from the basinette in our bedroom to her crib in the nursery. So far it has actually gone amazingly well, but it is only 11, so I'm not going to count my chickens yet. The other rough thing this week was her one month appointment, which was on Tuesday. She has only gained 3 oz (so she's 8 lbs 6 oz), which puts her at the 29th percentile for weight. Our next appointment should be in another month, but since she's gained so little we have to go back to get her weighed next Friday. We've decreased time between feedings, so hopefully that will do the trick. It has already helped with some daytime fussiness. I feel so bad that some of those fusses were from hunger and I held off feeding her! I guess that all new parents probably have to learn a thing or two along the way, but I still feel bad! On a better note, she has grown 1.25 inches and her head is 38.5 cm, both of which are in the upper 80s percentile. Another great note is that she has started cooing a lot and giving us lots of great smiles! She was in her swing the other day when I was doing some work around the house. I walked into the room and she was looking up at the mobile and cooing at it. It was so cute!

We also had a fantasticly warm day today, so we went for a walk while Dad worked this afternoon. It was great for me and I think Jenna liked it, too. She fell asleep before we even left the driveway. Hopefully we get a few more warm days here and there in the next couple months, so we can go for more walks and maybe even a jog once she has a bit better neck control.

Great pics! And you are right: all new parents go through the agony of figuring out what to do. You are fantastic parents with a beautiful, perfect (I admit I am prejudice)baby.
